New Direction

Well, I've made the major choice to stop going to shows for a while. So, I have to put my energy here for my own health, life, and sanity. I have three goals for this. Any suggestions and support is welcome.

1) Chronicle the techniques I use to get time & money for this writing

2) Chronicle the audiences I am able to reach and how I reflect them

3) Chronicle the emotions I am able to use to free and know myself

A Brief Concert Review: Madonna XV

Holiday (from Madonna, 1983)

The fate of nations hung in the balance, and I took…a Holiday! As flags of the world unfurled on the wall behind her, as cannons of confetti shot up all around the massive metal catwalk that came crashing down to a happy landing and a happy ending, Madonna sang goodnight and goodbye. She walked one last time on the catwalk, troupe in tow. The happiness that was flowing through me was non-stop. I felt free from my troubles and recharged to face my future again as Madonna triumphantly won over the audience, dancing out, disappearing in a daylight of joy that night. A holiday was had by all...

A Brief Concert Review: Madonna XIV

Music (from Music, 2000)

Suddenly, the stage spun round with a giant flashing pyramid of color with a DJ in it,

spinning away, as Madonna and her crew gathered round on separate blocks of lights.

“Music makes the people…” brought the people, bourgeoisie and rebel alike, together.

I really felt chummy with Madonna, her band, and everyone else in the arena by now.

I really like the different genres Madonna embraces – this song turns me on to them....

A Brief Concert Review: Madonna XIII

Crazy For You (from Crazy For You/Vision Quest, 1985)

“This one goes out to Gretchen!” Madonna screamed. Or at least I thought she said. On

a raised platform that reached the second tier of the stadium on a side far away from me,

in a smoky and sultry voice that paralleled the smoke obscuring her sultry form from view, stood Madonna, high above the crowd. She dedicated it to all over her fans who stood by her, through the lean and fat years. (I thought of G, and of her support of  various performers.) ...

A Brief Concert Review: Madonna XII
Papa Don't Preach (from True Blue, 1986)

Spinning into yet another stage of her life with various female friends to accompany her,
Madonna got so dizzy she couldn’t help but laugh as she tried to remember what to sing.
I’m always heartened when heavy social issues like single motherhood and abortion can
be conveyed on a conveyer belt and communicated in a sweet way of lasting brilliance. I
just remember the pink lights burning my eyes, & me being thankful my mother kept me...

El Ladron del Amor review & critique

A brief review & critique by David Skinner, both
Doublethink Master and Galley Slave.

"Thanks for the short-short story. I like several of your sentences, esp
'he
blew me off, blew out some lingering smoke, and blew up the stairs . . . '
The point of view strikes me as a little unstable since he is both
worshiper
and victim of the Spanish prince. Why not..."

Another sporadic reply to the sometime reader:

Dear Capitolist,

Who is the Great Lady of Good Gossip?

Patiently Anticipating in DC

-----------------------------------------------
Dear PA,

"Madame", replying, "A thousand pardons. I'm off
to catch a thief, long delayed & maybe impossible.
When I return, I always imagined I could conjure
you and he both up in a puff of smoke. As they say,
Dancing Days'll be here again. All will be revealed."

Thx, B5

P.S. "The truth is", I confessed...

The Great Lady of Good Gossip XII
"You just need to think outside the pobox.com," she intoned, "if you're
going anywhere in this town or this world. All the emails I've mailed and blogs I've logged have created a kingdom. A kingdom of Net workers. And I'm their pretty princess.
Poor little me. Always having to work the Net and it's network, holding court in cat houses, setting sail via the sea of ether to the nearest dive....
