The Great Lady of Good Gossip VIII
(still out of line)

She walked into the rooms, and assumed. That the whole world
spun for her. Each room of the downtown club a dreamy theme
land - Latin, Hip-hop, Old School, Rap, Techno, Alternative.
Filled with broken hearts, broken chains, and tiny dancers.
I followed...

A Brief Concert Review: Madonna VII
American Life (from American Life, 2003)

The Che-istic military political-fashion motif of the American Life cover come to life.
A jarring background panorama of a shell-shocked battle spilled onto the stage as
Madonna and her unit crawled under shrapnel and fallout on their bellies. The spinning
Rifles of her dancer-infantry men, and boot-stomping choreography advanced into the
crowd with a giant V-shaped platform-bridge on which Madonna herself led the attack.

Stepping right above the heads of the crowd, I saw how big her army of fans really was.
I gasped as I realized that she could really run for President as a ex-general of pop music.
All the arena turned to the her as she was center arena and then back again, for the attack.
If it was a strategy of distracting from the sub-popular reviews of the song, it WORKED.

Though I think the song didn't really hit me with personal meaning, I know it did hit some people in the crowd as representative of their experience. So I surrendered to it.
Her means of protesting war and Bush's policies are at least enjoyable to watch. Cya!

Express Yourself...

The Great Lady of Good Gossip VII
(Still out of line)

"I heard it from my friends about the things you said", she said, not in a kind way.
"How could a view become so twisted?" she mused...

A Brief Concert Review: Madonna VI
Nobody Knows Me (from American Life, 2003)

This one I didn't know. I've ignored the poor album reviews, but haven't bought the
record yet. Madonna, without apparent strain, cool and solo, proclaimed herself &
told the masses with breaking images and words that they, too, were themselves in
the face of the ignorant world. Maybe not a tune for the ages, but enough to think
that I (past "[life's a]set up until you're fed up" stage) could take confidence in myself.

Frozen...

A Brief Concert Review: Madonna V
Playing a PACKED house, Madonna hit the roof with high notes like these:

Opening music - The Beast Within

Enfolded in one of the most majestic video screen stage sets I've ever seen,
Madonna built the suspense with a spooky spoken word homily about life.
Floating words about the dangers of the external and internal wolves of the
world paralleled 20 foot high images of men, women, and a lupine beast.
(Who I thought was rather cute, myself. Like a pup at 17th & T Dog Park.)
The answer to all the problems was love, represented I presumed, by the woman
Behind the giant screens that slid to the sky, and slunk to the sides: The Madonna.

Vogue...

The Great Lady of Good Gossip VI
(Note: Not in a linear order just yet.)

No mystery girl, she was frank. "It's no mystery,
boy", she pointed out, "what good gossip is." I,
puzzled, chased her thoughts like birds. "It's five
minutes of fun! Your chance in life to tell the world
someone's some something you know but they don't...

A Brief Concert Review: Madonna IV
We whirled down and around the outer boondocks of the stadium to the heart
of it's metropolis of mini-me Madonnas. Through a sea of women in their last burst
of youth and young women who were never ever going to age. They were happy &
so was I. Madonna's positive explorations of sexuality and romantic individuality
have been a blessing for the world. I'm grateful for all the ladies carrying that torch!

Out tour ended in...
